Re: Premature AmniorrexisFrom: DoctorJoe@aol.comMon Mar 25 06:52:56 1996
<<Interesting that the use of tocolytics in discussed in this context when current agents haven't been shown to be of any benefit in run of the mill premature labor.>> I'm still not convinced. I think the existant literature (and practice philosophies) suffer from two serious flaws... 1) Either the tocolytics are used TOO LATE (e.g., after ROM or at advanced cervical dilation - see the Canadian ritodrine study), OR 2) There is less than adequate technical knowledge about HOW to use tocolytics (and this gets sticky, when you get in to deep discussions about it). My two pence. ************************************************* doctorjoe@aol.com "All things are connected. Joseph Pastorek, MD Some things are just more Department of OB-GYN connected than others." The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
