Re: Premature AmniorrexisFrom: David Nagey (dnagey@c3p0.ab.umd.edu)Sat Mar 23 06:30:45 1996
concerning premature rupture of membranes at 29 weeks: Our protocol is to: avoid cervical exams culture for strep, chlamydia & gonorrhea use MgSO4 if contractions are present in the absence of signs of infection betamethasone close observation on hospital bedrest until labor occurs (we will "re-Mag" to get our 48 hours betamethasone and will "re-Mag" even after 48 hrs if <28 weeks), infection is suspected, the membranes reseal (happens about 2% of the time), or we reach 35 weeks when we will induce labor Good Luck! David -- David Nagey -University of Maryland School of Medicine -dnagey@c3p0.ab.umd.edu - though not for long.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
