Now, now. I hate lawyers and courts as much as anyone else. But OBs will always be needed. I personally as a nurse-midwife am SO GLAD to have an OB available when I need one to consult, refer to, or just drag that second pair of eyes and ears in the room to confirm that I'm seeing what I think I'm seeing. There are those OBs that take normal birth and turn it into a disease, but this is probably due to the "single-digit" residents who just aren't comfortable. There are also plenty among the OB ranks who are well-trained, wonderful docs! (Isn't this a switch from the usual nurse-midwife - physician flame wars!) Nora Hernando, RN, SNM, Lexington, KY

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
