Rh isoimmunizationFrom: David Nagey (dnagey@c3p0.ab.umd.edu)Sat Dec 30 15:36:51 1995
writes Dr. Khaled Homouda Assistant lecturer, Ob Gyn AinShams university medical schoo afhosp@ritsec2.com.eg Hello Does any body know about the risk of Rh sensitization in a RH -ve patient who had a positive pregnancy test and a 1-2mm sac by vag probe then bleeding with no remnants in a week's time, she didn't recieve the anti D Ig that was 2 months ago now the titre is negative thanks !>> as I recall, red cell formation (and antigen presentation) begin at approximately 7 weeks post-conception so this lady was likely never at risk. Unless I am absolutely positive about gestational age, I err on the side of giving RhIg, however. Finally, if this woman is negative 6+ weeks out, she's at no risk. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
