Re: UnderstandingFrom: MBK80@aol.comWed Dec 27 20:42:38 1995
a bad outcome may have an explanation that has nothing to do with the physicians performance, diagnosis, or surgical expertise . by way of example a complete abruptio placenta at term with a patient arriving at the hospital with no fht's. constant, compassionate explanation and understanding are necessary both for the patients well being and for the prevention of an unnecessary legal action that would be easily defended. an adverse outcome due to negligence or presumed negligence in the absence of complete patient and family understanding is a setup for medical-legal confrontation. patient contact must continue after the patient leaves the hospital.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
