Dr Grubb makes some excellent comments about the timing of post partum conferences with family after things go wrong. A recurrent theme on this list in the last several weeks has been " good communication prevents lawsuits". Dr Grubb says that pts whom have a good relationship with their drs do not sue. My observation is that the core of malpractise claims are do to bad outcomes and that physician-patient relationships are a factor but once a patient leaves hospital after a bad event the family and friends start on them and we are back to the expectation of perfect outcome. tk fitzpatrick MBBCH baystate medical center springfield ma s and " someone must be to blame even if its the dr that I like"

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
