Cost is NOT the issue it sometimes seems to be. Tennesse has TennCare which is supposed to provide HMO type care to the Medicaid Population and to those who cant afford or qualify for private insurance. We still see about as many patients showing up in labor or very late in their pregnancy with no prenatal care. This is in a program that will pick them up and bring them to their appointments etc. We saw the same thing when I was in residency. We took anyone who wanted care - All they had to do was show up.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
