sonar and cervical incompetenceFrom: art fougner (evsono@pipeline.com)Sun Dec 24 08:19:09 1995
sorry i'm late for this one. funnelling has more to do with effacement than cervical incompetence. cerclage is a poor treatment for labor. the incompetent cervix on sonar maintains its length, but dilates. the final picture is the long cervix with some dilatation and sac herniation into the vagina. when u see this pic, u have missed the bus. this distinction is more than semantic, for it explains the lack of efficacy in screening protocols. unfortun- ately, it is tough to standardize experience. hope this helps. merry christmas, happy holidays, and health in 1996.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
