Re: Hodgkin's Lymphoma in PregnancyFrom: DoctorJoe@aol.comThu Dec 21 10:50:50 1995
<<Both services requesting expediting end of pregnancy prior to these staging exams..>> Actually, I've said this before about docs in general, but even moreso about MFM people -- the best way to treat a "complicated pregnancy" is to make it "unpregnant" ASAP. To my mind, this is abdicating the responsibility given you by the acquisition of all of those years of training. In other words, if you're gonna abort/deliver them, why learn about complicated obstetrics to begin with. In this patient, with nodular sclerosing HD, I would have NO qualms about a bone marrow biopsy. I wouldn't have any problem with MRI either, except the ray-docs may have a valid protest if the baby gets in the way of the scan. Also, I believe HD is generally treated by chemo - there are a lot of "benign" chemo agents, especially considering she's so late in pregnancy. If the TOC is radiation, however, she'd need to be Tx'd after delivery. ************************************************* doctorjoe@aol.com "All things are connected. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
