Thermometer Insertion in Urethra -- References?From: Safedrang@aol.comMon Dec 18 19:18:09 1995
Dear ob-gyn-l readers, I thank you in advance for your patience with me; I am undertaking a research project and request your assistance. I am seeking: references / anecdotal material / medical procedures & protocols / other relevant information with regard to the following situation: A woman taking her BBT vaginally either accidentally or erroneously inserts the thermometer in her urethra instead. I have seen one reference which included an x-ray photo of a thermometer which had made its way to the woman's bladder (in Glamour Magazine, believe it or not, January 1993). There have been two letters on the topic in the Journal of Urology (July 1975) and the British Medical Journal (19-26 December 1987) respectively. Do any of you have: clinical experience of this? colleagues with clinical experience of this? advice as to where else I could go for information? Unless you feel the list readership is generally interested, please direct follow-up email to me directly at I apologize for the inconvenience. If I am violating list protocol please tell me and I will go away quietly. If my questions are interesting I have some other ones which I will ask later. Thank you for your time and assistance, Warren Senders

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
