They said that their malpractice carrier sent them articles stating that it was too risky medicolegaly to provide this service for parturients with platelet counts < 130,000. Maybe it's time to send this information to the media either by newspaper or TV. When the public starts to realize how malpractice afftects medical care, then some significant pressure can be exerted on legislators to effect change. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
