The one patient that I have seen with detached retina was one who had second stage delay with pre-eclampsia - she was a tremendous pusher and let's say she had a vacuum extraction which was not exactly a lift-out. Needless to say, she was blind in one eye the next day. I nearly had a heart attack, but I wasn't as nervous as the ophthalomologist who had to come to the postpartum unit. ;+) Mother and child did well!

I agree.I think is common clinical experience to see some women after pushing for birth with eye anterior hemorragy or hemorragic eye's petecchias.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
