And as a solo private practice doc: reimbursements don't go up (while profit for insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies do) so even those of us who would like to stay in private practice are finding it very hard to make ends meet. And I am not talking about making ends meet and keep up a high salary.

Lots of reasons medicine is changing to a factory - business model. Docs and "providers" are seen as interchangeable machines to evaluate and fix widgets and the patients/consumers are the widgets. They get put on the assembly line and the widget fixers are supposed to take 8-10 minutes to fully evaluate & develop a management plan, go on to the next widget and leave after an exact number of hours on the job.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
