In terms of a Biophysical Profile {i.e. Presence of "adequate" AF}, it is any single pocket of fluid that is 2 Cm or greater in vertical depth. (Manning and Platt) In terms of AFI(Amniotic Fluid Index) which BTW is not part of the BPP, it is an index of greater value than the 5th %ile for gestational age. There are many charts published with this data present, Once again, by using words incorrectly, we confuse issues and jeopardize our patients well being.
