Re: Gyrus/Ligasure

Much of my time when teaching registrars who have some experience in doing procedures, is spent asking them why they are doing what to me seem unnecessary steps. Why for instance, tie and hold the round ligaments separately in a TAH. Why pick up the corner of the sheath incision when starting the closure. There appears to be an infinite number of possible useless things that people can do which have no relevance.

Exactly, eliminate all unnecessary motions and steps. This will decrease the operating time. The fastest surgeons that I ever saw, appeared to move quite slowly.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
