Re: Sometimes breachs are just meant to be born vaginally. From: ND84MD@aol.comWed May 28 19:51:55 2008
reminds me of a case when i was the chief resident at vanderbilt. patient presented with a breech presentation about to deliver. i called a stat section and had the baby delivered from above in a matter of minutes. i was quite proud of the outcome when i presented the case on morning rounds. that is until a voice of an old grizzled attending from the back asked; "dr stanley, i believe the goal of obstetrics is the safe delivery of the baby and minimal harm to the mother. did we acheive this goal? did this baby have to pulled two feet through his mother rather than be pushed five inches? did this mother need major abdominal surgery to deliver her baby?" after a lame attempt at deflecting the barbs i slunk back to my chair but have never forgot the lesson. cj stanley, md daytona beach, fl

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
