.. I received the following note from a friend. Very interesting. You should visit ---- You can now watch surgery online at http://www.or-live.com/ if you register as a professional. Viewing the C-section video, I wanted to reach into the TV screen and show the surgeon how to do a C-Section, i.e. substandard skills, with finger or Mayo scissor. Knife dissection gives sharper, cleaner dissection planes [with less bleeding]. Also, clumsy development of the low transverse uterine incision with rupure of membranes before delivery of the baby that scattered amniotic fluid into the peritoneal cavity rather than a clean knife dissection down to intact bulging membrenes and suction to avoid splash of amniotic fluid, followed by extending the incision just enough to allow deliver of the fetal head. Also, only single layer closure of the uterine muscle without replacement of th ebladder peritoneum, and etc.. My favorites: Dissection of a difficult meningioma that was compressing the optic nerve thru a transorbital incision and total hip replacement performed at an Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, hospital. milo

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
