My wife screens all my patients for spousal abuse and provides interventions when needed. I had a 21 yo patient who was shot and killed by her estranged partner about three years ago in a Toy's R Us parking lot. It does happen and it is a real problem

In fact, the leading cause of death in pregnant women in the US is homicide. I would guess that a goodly number of these deaths are by gunshot.

Perhaps we should include this in our prenatal teaching.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
