Re: Amnio vs CVS vs UltrasoundFrom: ainsron (ainsron@sbcglobal.net)Mon Mar 31 14:52:02 2008
This is a multipart message in MIME format. It depends on what she wants, does she want screening or a diagnostic test? If she accepts screening, she needs to understand there can be false positives as well as false negatives. The earliest screening option is first trimester screening- nuchal translucency, PAPP-A, HCG. If she wants diagnostic testing, either CVS or amnio. If termination is a serious consideration/option for this patient, the CVS gives you earlier information re. aneuploidy but no information regarding neural tube defects. Ronald E. I know that CVS has a higher rate of miscarriage. Gail _____ Create a Home Theater Like the Pros. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
