Here we go again. With the July 1 cut to Medicare payments on the horizon, several Senators are introducing legislation to spare physicians the 10% fee reduction. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) is pushing the Save Medicare Act of 2008 (_S.2785_ (http://www.thomas.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d110:s.02785:) ), which would postpone the cuts through 2009. On the other side of the aisle, Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) is sponsoring the Ensuring the Future Physician Workforce Act of 2008 (_S.2729_ (http://www.thomas.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d110:s.02729:) ), which includes more ambitious reforms, such as getting rid of the Medicare spending cap. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
