Allan I think you are being to harsh, the amount of risk in this case is peanuts compared to the usual system failures I have seen. As long as the cervix was long thick and closed and the patient was properly consuled on the risks of a transverse lie and told to present to the hospital with rupture of members or contractions I don't see any glaring errors. I think having a peds present with thick mec and questionable tracing should not be taken lightly, I can take care of mec aspiration better than most peds and resp/neonatal staff I work for, but that will not help me at all in the case of a bad outcome.

Take care, John

May be I am a perfectionist. I am not critical of the management of this case. I am just amazed at Anna's happy reaction after so many things have gone wrong! And if I was that paitent, I would be very unhappy too with how I was treated despite of the good outcome.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
