In addition to Ethicon's Excel, Applied Medical also makes a similar trocar. Robert Modugno MD MBA FACOG Sylva, NC In a message dated 2/2/2008 3:39:47 A.M. Eastern Standard Time, fwren@shaw.ca writes: thanks very much Glen for that info.. frances wren
>----- Original Message ----- Frances, The one I use and I think Richard mentioned is the Ethicon Excel trocar. They have a plastic tip at the end that has wings of sort to help spread the tissue during placement. The laparoscope is able to pass into the trocar and you can see through the plastic end and see all the layers as they pass by during placement. I use these even for the secondary ports that I place under direct visualization. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
