Currently, our hospital does not compensate OB's for coverage. At the last OB Section meeting, I mentioned the subject and it spurned significant interest among the providers. Two days later, at the Medical Executive Committee meeting, the hospital CEO presented the strategic plan for the hospital. At the completion of his presentation, he stated that the components of the hospital's grand plans were all financially feasible...unless, then he looks at me and states, "Unless the medical staff insists on payment for coverage and in that case, none of this can happen"... And that's my problem how??? Lynn

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
