Re: economics of hysterectomyFrom: rmodugno@aol.comWed Dec 12 18:09:27 2007
Specifically I am looking for >surgical >>> costs, hospital costs, costs of recovery (i.e. days off from work, >>> replacement workers, loss of productivity, etc.) >>> >>> Thanks >>> >>> Richard Chudacoff, MD, FACOG >>> Rich, Recently read a paper contrasting hospital costs of vag hyst vs "laparoscopic associated hysterectomy". (Hey, I just made that up!) and as Dan said - vag hyst is the most "economic". Makes sense - no "high-tech" instrumentation is used unless you use bipolar heaney's.And a scalpel, scissors for morcellation sure is cheaper than the laparoscopic morcellator. Sorry this doesn't help you much. Just butting in! Robert Modugno MD MBA FACOG Sylva, NC

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
