I am aware of one suit brought on this ground. The baby died of GBBS sepsis within 20 hours of delivery. Patient had been in Hospital for less than 2 hours prior to section. Defence was victorius, case never went to court. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
