My partner had a patient with chorio-amnionitis, febrile, maternal and fetal tachycardia. Was on triple antibiotics. Put in an amnio-infusion with room-temp saline and the fetal tachycardia resolved. Thought this was kind of an interesting approach to "fetal cooling". How do you know it's the "cooling" that's causing the tachycardia to resolve, or if it's some other effect of the amnioinfusion, e.g. restoration of oligohydramnios, less pressure on the cord, etc.? The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
