Re: Fetal cooling with amni-infusion.From: R. Daniel Braun (rd.braun@gmail.com)Sat Sep 29 15:08:32 2007
For the record, there have been multiple studies done showing that in the usual circumstances; i.e. No fever: there is no difference in fetal temperature whether you use room temperature or warmed Saline. Wenstrom et al OB-G 1995; 86:572 in a survey found that 1.1 % of 22,000 amnioinfusions were done for Chorioamnionitis. 78% were done with warmed salin & 22% with room temp. saline Glantz & Letteny OB-G 1996; 87: 150 found no significant difference in outcomes with warmed or room temp. This was a metanalysis of 14 studies with at least 40 subjects in each study. The above were gleaned from my last PowerPoint presentation on amnioinfusion for our G.R. in 1999. Dan

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
