Any pap smear is a sampling procedure. Whether cells are missed on the cervix itself, left on the spatula while transferring to a slide, or left in the solution, it is never possible to evaluate all of the cells. My understanding of the data is that any of the liquid based methods allow for appropriate sampling of the cell population during processing. I'd love to see the data your pathologist is relying on to make that conclusion.
