Well, I have wanted to be an OB/GYN since I was about 7 years old and my mom was pregnant with my brother. Unfortunately, I didn't like studying, so didn't do well enough in high school to get into a 4 year college which is needed before med school. I went to a hospital school of nursing in NYC, my mother's alma mater.

My gen. surgeon hubby has told me 20 years ago to apply to UCI's med school- at the time, I had 3 kids ages 3 to 7, so that was out. Always excuses, a breast cancer detour, starting up a $475 million a year postpartum home health business and doing other things, so now I'm too old at age 54. :(

So, I'm hoping that becoming a midwife will help me reach half of my life's dream of caring for pregnant patients. My husband thinks I am crazy-he can't wait to get out of medicine because of all the BS involved in litigation threats, insurance company denials, etc.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
