Re: casual research questionFrom: westsidebirthservice@juno.com ("westsidebirthservice@juno.com")Fri Jun 29 08:31:22 2007
I haven't had as many responses as will be fully useful for my research paper (el, sorry you're not included as a helpful response)--that being said I asked that male physicians respond because I expected (I admit I had a preconceived notion of responses :) ) to hear some language that would have a paternalistic edge to it. Like---"I want to help women overcome the horrible pain of birth" or maybe something more subtile than that, but you get the drift. Or, I wondered about the financial reasons for becoming an OB especially given that, as a midwife, I understand the history of the tension between medicine and midwifery to be a competition for money and territory. Anyway--for the others out there---willing to respond to the original question? Louana

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
