Unisom - up to two tabs daily; 1 tab HS, 1/2 tab QAM, 1/2 tab at noon - each dose with 25mg B6.

Anna,

What dose do you use for the B6 and unisom? I have something written down from residency, but now looking at it it seems like too high a dose of the b6 compared to what available over the counter.

Thanks,

Glen

Would need a lot more info to say. My first line for N/V is pyridoxine and doxylamine, but if she has hyperemesis, that may have been tried already. Also, she needs to have someone discuss the pros and cons of using category C meds during 1st trimester, as most of the meds for N/V are category C. She should call her OB back and tell him or her the same thing you just told us.

Friend of a friend's wife was prescribed Zofran for hyperemesis -she's in her first trimester. It's prohibitively expensive and they can't afford it because they have a new insurance plan with a huge deductible. He said 24 pills is several hundred dollars that they don't have. Costco's cash price for 30 tabs is $1,256.44 !!!

Can you suggest something cheaper?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
