I love mysoprostel for cervical ripening and labor induction. However it has gotten some bad press the last 2 years with ruptured uterus, amniotic fluid embolism, tachysystole etc. We only use it vaginally and at a dose of 50mcg intially and 25mcg q 4 hours vaginally. I have read that it works as well if not better when given orally and the levels are more stable etc. The problem being it is hard to reverse it orally if overstimulation results. Please direct us to any articles or portocols on oral cytotec use for labor??? agf

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
