Re: CNM proctoringFrom: JSBowpat@aol.comSun May 13 10:58:47 2007
In previous practices and my current one, I was observed doing 10 deliveries, along with any repairs associated with those occurrences. Otherwise, there were no special procedures that were utilized with respect to AP, PP or GYN visits in the office. As I develop skills over and above the ACNM core competencies i.e. IUD insertion, EMB, colposcopy, first assist, circumcision, I must be proctored by my mentor physician, demonstrate competency to their satisfaction, and complete documentation for the ACNM regarding my additional skills. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
