Re: Pill and breast cancerFrom: =?utf-8?q?Dr. Bülent Potur?= (bpotur@yahoo.com)Tue Apr 24 15:47:08 2007
In a study from 1989 ( http://www.greenjournal.org/cgi/content/abstract/73/6/977 ) they did not find an increased rate in breast cancer when two group of women, one women with a family history of breast cancer and taking OC's, the second women with a family history of breast cancer and not taking OC's are compared. On the other hand in a recent study an increased risk of breast cancer was reported with the use of OC's especially if these are used before the first full term pregnancy. Do yearly breast exams and ultrasound or mammogram if indicated. The idea that OCs increase risk of breast CA is not supported in the literature and is a common misconception of patients and apparently MDs. Ronald E.
