Re: lost IUDFrom: DoctorJoe@aol.comTue Mar 27 14:57:03 2007
In a message dated 3/27/2007 2:41:45 P.M. Central Standard Time, johnprov@sympatico.ca writes: The same rep probably also used to say the risk of perforation is 1 10,000; well the risk is the same as T and copperT; also some studies show that the inflamatory response after perforation is the same. The risk with PID is related to the number of sexual partners, nuligravids are more likely not to be married and more likely to have more than one partner if the mirena is in uteru for five years. With a 50% divorce rate one can make a strong arguement Married multips are likely to have more than one partner in five years. There are lies dam lies and then there are statistics. I remember David Grimes came to LSU and lectured on IUCDs in the distant past. His take home message (not HIS message, as you can imagine, but what I came away with after listening to the talk) was that IUDs were safe and effective, except in female humans. Joe P.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
