25 YO P1001 with a Mirena of around one year's duration, came in for removal. No string seen, and on exploring the uterus with an IUD hook, well, no IUD found. Ultrasound did NOT find her IUD, so it is lost. I have recommended H-scope/lapscope to find it, but she has asked about having a CT first. Actually, I hadn't thought of that, and it seems that a plain X-ray may be even the better first choice. My real questions is: Is there any role for imaging? My instinct says we simply need to go to the OR, as she couldn't have expelled it and not known it, I wouldn't think. That said, if it is up under her diaphagm. . . Garry

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
