Re: You've done enough surgery when...From: Elrod, Darryl G Maj 48 MDOS/SGOBO (Darryl.elrod@LAKENHEATH.AF.MIL)Mon Feb 26 01:43:58 2007
Funny you should mention that about the foley. I did an LAVH about 2 weeks ago. Now, granted, I haven't done anything more than take the ovaries before, so this case I went ahead and made a bladder flap, exposed the uterine arteries just to see if I could. The vaginal part went very easily. I took a final look with the scope and then closed up. The urine in the foley had been clear and the bag 'normal' up until this point. I should mention that I forgot to remove all the gas before hurrying and removing my trocars so I tried to squeeze out any excess gas through the incisions. By the time we moved her to the recovery bed, the foley bag looked like a Jiffy Pop Popcorn bag. It was the oddest thing I've ever seen. The bladder was completely deflated when I looked with the scope. She has done well since without any sign of bladder injury (hematuria, pain) Odd? Glen //SIGNED// D.
