HPV positive pap- PPFrom: Babycatchers@aol.comTue Feb 13 14:24:12 2007
But the discussion in our group lately is- We have always done PP pap at 6 weeks because the Medical card is canceled after that time. One of the OBs wants to wait and do the Postpartum pap at 4 months because many of the 6 week ones come back with reactive cellular changes or inflammation present. If we wait until 4 months PP we do not get paid for them or the office visit. We have quite a few HPV positive paps and will do colpo during mid-pregnancy, but how accurate is the 6 week pap? The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
