Re: Failed tubal ligationsFrom: Elrod, Darryl G Maj 48 MDOS/SGOBO (Darryl.elrod@LAKENHEATH.AF.MIL)Tue Feb 13 05:29:32 2007
So...for her preop yesterday I scanned her and saw what I thought was a dilated tube on the left. No gestational sac, but the closest thing I've seen to a sign of ectopic yet. After my comment to Dan about scanning patients yourself and not mistaking sides, I feel bad to say that when I got to the OR it did look like a distal RIGHT sided ectopic. The distal end of the proximal portion had the lumen nearly completely exposed. It looks like it had been prepped for a tubal anastamosis! The corpus luteum was also on that side, so it all would seem to make sense. Both distal tubes came out. The promixal stumps were cauterized. I did a D&C just for completeness. Probably overkill based on the laparoscopy finding. Glen //SIGNED// D. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
