In our 3ob/gyn, 3 CNM practice, we have a weekly provider meeting where we discuss such issues. Definite plans are made for problem, complicated, 'high-risk' patients so that everybody is on the same page - therefore the patient does not receive conflicting signals. I believe this approach improves the quality of care and the "harmony" of a collaborative practice. Thus alleviating the predicament of first encountering this type of patient at 3am in labor with an abruption, hypertensive and one hell of a headache!

Agree fully. Not wanting to see the doctor when you have a history of a major health problem sends a bit of a negative signal to me.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
