_Parents Settle Malpractice Case Over Son's Severe Cerebral Palsy_ (http://news.bostonherald.com/localRegional/view.bg?articleid=158046) In what is believed to be the largest medical malpractice settlement in New Hampshire, the family of a brain-damaged child will receive $5 million to pay for the child's long term care. The parents blamed their son's neurological problems on their doctor and labor nurse, who allegedly failed to recognize severe symptoms of distress and resulted in excessive oxygen deprivation. The child's mother estimates the settlement will only last her child until the age of 20 because of the intense care he requires. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
