I find it hard to believe that digestion stops in an unmedicated (i.e. not had narcotics) women in labor. For the 11 hours it took me to complete Ironman Florida I know my digestion didn't stop, and it was a heck of a lot harder than labor :) I didn't eat many solids though (didn't really want them---and neither do most women in active labor) just my $0.02

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
