Re: Canadian Counterfeit And Thermodynamics ...From: Dean Huffman . (dean@thehuffpeople.net)Sun Sep 3 10:35:48 2006
.. When I was in the Air Force in the mid 1970's, they got a "Too Good To Be True" contract for reading PAP smears for all their overseas bases. Turns out it WAS too good to be true. The laboratory apparently used the "swirl test"*. They had to collect EVERY pap smear slide, have their own technicians and pathologists review them, and attempt to contact EVERY woman with the corrected results, especially those whose corrected results were abnormal. They ended up spending many many times the money they thought they were saving by getting this great contract. * Swirl test: A laboratory procedure in which that which is to be tested is poured into the sink. If it swirls clockwise, it is POSITIVE. If it swrils counter-clockwise, it is NEGATIVE. If it does not swirl, the test is reported as EQUOVICAL. - - - - Date: Sun, 3 Sep 2006 09:19:49 -0500 From: evsono@pipeline.com (art fougner, md) Subject: Re: Canadian Counterfeit The first law of thermodynamics: you can't get more than what you pay for. If a deal seems too good to be true, there's probably a reason. Caveat emptor. Art

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
