Re: 50-80 yo with HRHPVFrom: Henry Gregor (henrygregor@yahoo.com)Thu Aug 24 17:43:49 2006
Joanne, I have no additional methodologies to suggest, but will share with you - and you probably know this already - sooner or later, with 5FU someone, no matter how cautiously the drug is used, will get severe vaginal inflammatory reactions with adhesions ... so, best to cover that possibility carefully as informed consent. "Joanne Bulley, MD" <islesannie@yahoo.com> wrote: I have about half a dozen patients right now who are between 55 & 85 who have active infections with HR HPV and it is rather difficult to treat / get rid of. Thse women have been treated with LEEP / Cold Knife Cone / Laser depending on the exact location. Some have had the lesion extend onto the vaginal fornices. Most have been treated with estrogen vaginal cream to some extent. Sometimes this has just been so I can access and some has been in an attempt to help their cervix clear. On the advice of my consulting gyn-onc 2 of these have been placed on Efudex intravaginal (1 gm per week with 1 gm of estrogen cream at the half week mark also). Do any of you have patients such as these? I can cut it out / laser it off / freeze it -- but it does not clear. Any thoughts / suggestions?
