My 11 yo daughter came for a 'USAFE (US Air Force Europe) bring your child to work day' on a day I was doing a vag hyst, an LAVH and a c-section. She stuck with me for all the surgery but her least favorite part of the experience was the smell.

She said it reminded her of burnt Cheetos. How she knows what they smell like I'll never know.

Along this same line, one of the other docs, uses the cautery for everything that sheds a drop of blood. It isn't a gentle tap either. He burns until it is black. Good G-d, it looks like a barbecue when he is done. I know I'm going to get some kind of cancer related to the fumes. Using the suction barely touches the smoke coming off the field.

Yeah, but the SMELL . . . what is the SMELL like?

I wonder about the charred tissue. I hope it causes an immune response that helps in the long run.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
