Re: 24 week-erFrom: Larry Glazerman (l.glazerman@rcn.com)Mon Jul 10 21:04:56 2006
Real tough call - did you have an EFW prior to delivery? How solid were her dates? In my hospital (tertiary center, NICU staff always in house), first of all, our MFMs probably would have taken her in transfer. If she were at our place, the neonatologists would have seen her on admission, discussed the dismal prognosis for a true 23 weeker, and followed the parents' lead. If they wanted full-out resuscitation, they probably would have gone along, but they probably would have advised against it. I'm not an MFM, but isn't 484 grams pretty big for 23 weeks?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
