Let's get a grip--telling women to have sex to initiate labor is no big deal, and winking and saying "it might work" or "it usually works" is not much different than the women who flock to a certain Italian restaurant here for Eggplant Parmesan, as it reportedly puts them in labor (didn't work for my niece). Neither of these "therapies" are harmful, and it is a nice way to get along with your patients. Anedotes and experience have their place, but let's not lose sight of the fact that, in general, scientific studies/randomized trials (thanks, Joe) are powerful. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
