Update on 28M urogyn lawsuit

I posted recently about a 28M verdict against a local gynecologist whose patient had to self-cath a few times a day after some type of sling procedure (I don't know the exact details). The patient's lawyer offered to settle for around $275 thousand (about the average settlement for this type of case) but the gyn and his lawyer declined. Everyone was shocked at the 28M verdict. However, the judge has thrown out the verdict and allowed a retrial on grounds that several jurors lied about their legal history (one juror allegedly neglected to mention 9 prior lawsuits). I'm still waiting for an explanation from jurors as to why self-cathing 2-3 times a day (the patient still works) is worth 28 million dollars.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
