Re: 2nd trimester fetal demiseFrom: Raymond Stephen (stephen.raymond@dhhs.tas.gov.au)Wed Jun 28 18:42:05 2006
Cytotec 600mcg pv and 600mcg orally - once off dose; should produce a spontaneous evacuation which probably should be followed up by curettage after expulsion of products. Steve -----Original Message----- From: ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net [mailto:ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net] On Behalf Of Dr. Ainsworth Sent: Thursday, 29 June 2006 5:43 AM To: Multiple recipients of list OB-GYN-L Subject: 2nd trimester fetal demise I have a patient who is a surrogate mom - donor egg and sperm from the biological parents, now at 20wks with a fetal demise that probably occurred one week ago. She has a complete previa. If she wants to terminate the pregnancy, would you do a D&E with laminaria or try cytotec? At this point, she is showing no signs of labor and does not want to continue the pregnancy. If you used cytotec, what dose - 200mcg, 400mcg, 800mcg q6h? Would you try a low dose and work up? Would you do it as an inpatient with blood available, or as an outpatient until you begin getting some response?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
