central U.S. Both coasts are, as usual, ahead of the rest of us. The hospital nearest me still has separate labor and delivery rooms, and the baby is often taken to the nursery without the mother so much as laying eyes on it. They had a heart attack at my friend's birth plan, which specified that the baby was never to leave her side, provided everything was well.

wow, that's good to know, since students may go anywhere in the country I guess I'd better start broadening their preparation before they have heart attacks at practices seen in different parts of the country. There can be "bad experiences" anywhere though, we aren't immune tot those complaints

Birth plans tend to cause staff distress no matter where :-) Laurie

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
